Just
as the Coho salmon migrate to the southern end of the lake,
so does the PEGASUS. To get in on the fastest paced action
of the year, nothing beats fishing Winthrop Harbor, IL, in
late April and May.
With fish stacked up just outside the harbor mouth, travel
time to the fish is usually short while we are long on action!
As always, you are welcome to bring along a cooler with food
and drinks but don’t plan on doing too much eating or
drinking. Chances are your hands will be busy cranking on
those delicious Coho salmon. With an occasional Chinook salmon
and limit catches the norm; don not forget a cooler to transport
your cleaned and bagged catch home in.
You will need an Illinois license to fish here but those are
available right on the boat. Being less than an hour away
from Milwaukee, the ride down will go quickly as you fill
with anticipation and the ride home is a breeze as the call
of “Fish On, Fish On!” rings in your ears.
"With
the action starting immediately, each rod sprang to life
within moments of being set by Captain Mike. First calling
us by name, then just pointing and yelling “Fish
On,” we cranked feverishly as Mike dodged flopping
fish and excited anglers as he netted fish and re-set
lines. Twenty minutes later, we had 11 silvery Coho in
the cooler.
“Just get ready,” Mike said as he turned the
Pegasus back toward the hungry school of fish. As if on
queue, rods started dancing again. After another forty
minutes Mike, the Pegasus and the happiest five guys I
have ever seen were headed for the harbor.
As a customer of Mike’s for the last 21 years, I
can truly say this lived up to everything Mike said it
would.
Thanks Mike..."
